About Kirkenes and Norway

Kirkenes is located north east in Northern Norway about 400 km north of the Arctic Circle. Kirkenes is known as the capital of the Barents Region and the gateway to the east - just 15 km far from the Russian border. Roughly 10% of the people in Kirkenes are Russians. Kirkenes is also known for being the turning point of the Hurtigruten coastal steamer.

Norway is one of the safest countries in the world to visit. As late as in 2019, Norway was crowned as the safest country in the world to drive in. It´s just the way we roll. In addition, it can (proudly) be mentioned that people in Northern Norway are well known for their friendliness and hospitality. Especially after a couple of beers.
